Advice & Resources, My Journey

A Letter to My Birthday Self (2019 Birthday Blogpost)

Well, here we are again another year older and wiser (hopefully). Normally, I would be writing out a whole list of lessons for this year, or as originally planned it was going to be 29 moments from this birthday year, but listing 29 things is quite a long list to fit into one blogpost and some of them are a little too personal to share. So, instead this year I am going by a different approach, one that allows me to reflect on this last birthday year and look ahead on how I’d like to approach the upcoming year. In doing so, I’ve also found that this new letter format is a way that quite eloquently I am able to do so while still reflecting on everything without giving too much detail.

So, without further ado here is this week’s Birthday Blogpost in letter form titled “A Letter to My Birthday Self”.

A Letter to My Birthday Self:

Dear Kylie:

Well, here we are again. Another year older and wiser hopefully. A lot has happened for us this year, some fun experiences have come our way, some not so fun, we’ve taken great steps forward in our personal life and pursuits, have continued to pursue our passions and started some small steps there. Not to mention beginning work again after taking two years off, that definitely is no small step and worth mentioning just in itself. So, let’s take a second to pause and appreciate how far we’ve come through all this because it’s been a lot to take on that you have continued to manage with preserving, determination and grace.

We’ve explored experiences that we once thought weren’t possible, taken a few great risks, grown as an individual, writers and blogger. Set yourself some valuable goals and have began to look ahead for once into the future and imagine what you’d like it to hold for you, all while growing what you have in the present. All in all, it’s been a crazy and unpredictable year, but through it all you’ve been strong, continued to press on and do what is best for you. I’m proud of you kiddo for doing that. You’ve experienced the loss of someone very close to your heart, and have made it through with the support of wonderful family and friends. I know how much she meant to you and would be proud that you’ve continued to follow your dreams, heart and move forward. Use that as inspiration as you continue to explore the new experiences that await you this year and pursue your dreams.

*I’d also like to add that this year is going to be an important one for us, in that it’s the last year we are going to be in our twenties, and therefore are wrapping up this decade in our lives in turn for celebrating a fresh decade next year in turning 30. One I know you will continue to make your mark on, grow from and no doubt great things will keep coming your way.

Keep up the Great Work, I’m proud of you birthday girl! Happy B-Day!

Yours Truly,
